Sunny Hill Nursing Home of Will County to begin accepting applications from non-residents for admissions

Sunny Hill Nursing Home of Will County, the area-renowned skilled care facility, has announced applications for admissions are being accepted from non-residents of the County. Known for its legacy of providing the highest level of healthcare service possible to the residents of the county since 1955, Sunny Hill is now available to anyone who meets the criteria for admission.

“We are fortunate to have a quality skilled facility such as Sunny Hill in Will County,” said County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant. “The staff and amenities of Sunny Hill are second to none and I am proud of our dedicated staff. This decision by the County Board is important to families seeking superior care for their loved ones.”

In 2017, the Will County Board adopted a resolution that established a conditional admissions policy for non-Will County residents to accommodate applicants who are former county residents and a taxpayer for five years or have an immediate family member who resides in Will County.

The County Board voted to amend this resolution at its May 20 meeting This amended resolution will remain in effect until Dec. 1, 2021 and is subject to further review at that time.

“This decision by the County Board will enable Sunny Hill to accept applicants from outside of the county,” said Maggie McDowell, Administrator of the nursing home. “We have received numerous requests for these types of admissions and this approval will allow Sunny Hill to serve more families seeking quality care for their loved ones.”

Sunny Hills approach and practices are grounded in the principles of “Resident Centered Care” where care is individualized and the staff is committed to helping the residents enjoy life. The staff focuses on getting to know each of the residents personally and fostering a true sense of community and family. The facility is also dual certified for Medicaid and Medicare.

“Our community of residents, family members, volunteers, and staff are dedicated to meeting the physical, social, psychological and spiritual needs of each of our residents with dignity, honor and respect,” said McDowell. “We are pleased to expand services and superior care opportunities, to everyone, resident or non-resident of the county.”

Applications will be accepted and evaluated individually. The application for admission can be found on the Will County website at https://www.willcountyillinois.com/County-Offices/Special-Services/Sunny-Hill-Nursing-Home
