Youth Provider Workshop to focus on digital safety
JOLIET – The Workforce Investment Board of Will County Youth Council is welcoming back Melissa Hemzacek for its 2018 Youth Provider Workshop, Insights into Digital Safety on Thursday, Sept. 27.
“We’re very excited to have Melissa back speak to us about digital safety. We learned so much from her when she spoke at a previous Youth Provider event several years ago. We look forward to hearing her update on this very relevant topic,” says Cheryl McCarthy, Joliet Township High School Superintendent and Youth Council Co-chairman.
Hemzacek, a licensed social worker in the Chicagoland area, works with youth in a school district setting and is an expert in digital safety. She will cover topics ranging from social media to creating a digital footprint, online gaming and cyberbullying, online predators and sexting.
The free event will be held from 9 to 11 am Thursday, Sept. 27, at the Workforce Center of Will County, 2400 Glenwood Ave. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. For more information, call (815) 727-5670.
