Will County leaders ink completion certificate for Public Safety Complex

Sheriff personnel have begun move-in process

     Yesterday, officials from Will County conducted an official signing ceremony of a Certificate of Substantial Completion for the Public Safety Complex. This project milestone represents the end of construction and the beginning of a phased move-in process. The $33.5 million facility will house a majority of the Sheriff’s operations as well as the Emergency Telephone Safety Board and the Laraway Communications Center.

     “A lot of hard work by the project team and the local contracting community resulted in the completion of this wonderful facility in record time,” said County Executive Larry Walsh. “We are proud of this beautiful, state-of-the-art complex which will enable the Sheriff to bring a majority of his operations under one roof.”

     Walsh was joined by Sheriff Mike Kelley and Ray Tuminello (R-New Lenox), chairman of the County Board’s Capital Improvements Committee, and Mike Fricilone (R- Homer Glen), chairman of the Finance Committee, to sign these official documents which recognized the completion of construction a month and a half ahead of schedule. Kelley and his administrative team are the first to move into the new building with full operations anticipated for late December.

     “We are so proud of this new building which will help our department continue to offer excellent service to the residents of Will County,” said Kelley. “The new technology and equipment that is part of this new facility is a welcome addition to our department. We are well prepared to handle our growing population and the new responsibilities expected of law enforcement.”

Today, the Workforce Center of Will County (WCWC) piloted a new service at its 2400 Glenwood Avenue location for job seekers – a drive thru job fair. Participants were able to speak with multiple companies from the safety of their vehicles, while observing social distancing and wearing a mask.
