1.      Financial Report: Office Manager Northrup presented in Treasurer Arellano’s absence

Patriots Fund Balance: $4587.57                VAC Checking Acct. Balance:  $6640.87

2.      Superintendent Report:  Superintendent McNichol

 

·         Veterans Financial Assistance

§  February ended at 25% above monthly average

§  Discussion Followed

·         Veteran Benefit Applications

§  A goal of the VAC is to increase the number of Veterans applying for Veterans Benefits

·         VHEA Housing

§  Permanent Supportive Housing for Veterans  in Joliet

·         Discussion Followed

·         New Financial Assistance Appeal Policy

§   Motion to adopt made by Past Chairman Horne, Seconded by Don Walden

·         Superintendent McNichol to a generic letter to be sent to outside agencies looking for support

§  Motion made by Past Chairman Horne; Seconded by Vice Chairman Vargas

·         Grundy County VAC Transportation Agreement

§  Grundy County VAC has been able to help Veterans with transportation that live on the south-western border of Will County.

·         Discussion followed.

§  30 day trial approved by Board to purchase with Pro Card - Motion made by Past Chairman Horne; Seconded by Vice Chairman Vargas

Will County Center for Community Concerns receives more than $33,000 to fund comprehensive housing counseling programs

Officials from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) presented a check for more than $33,000 to the Will County Center for Community Concerns (WCCCC) to support the agency’s comprehensive housing counseling program. HUD awarded more than $42 million in housing counseling grants in Opportunity Zones across the nation, with $1.3 million allocated in Illinois.

America Recycles Day Nov. 15

Since 1997, America Recycles Day has increased awareness of both recycling and buying recycled products. This year’s America Recycles Day is Friday, November 15 and Will County is joining communities across the nation to encourage residents to focus on basic recyclables: plastic bottles, jugs, and tubs; glass bottles, steel and aluminum cans, empty cartons, and varieties of clean dry paper such as newspapers and cardboard boxes.
