The 2017 Hero Helps Community Summit will shine a light on several counties that are implementing innovative strategies to battle the heroin epidemic and drive down the abuse of opioids in their communities.
This year’s summit is slated for Friday, April 21, 2017 at the Edward Hospital Athletic and Event Center, 55 Phelps Drive in Romeoville.
The forum’s focus is “Fighting the Heroin/Opioid Crisis Epidemic in Illinois”. The State has identified six counties on the front line in the fight to end the heroin/opioid epidemic that has claimed countless lives across the Nation. An informative panel discussion will highlight the critical work in these counties, focusing on options to expand and support their initiatives.
Participants from Will County, DuPage County, Lake County, and Cook County will be speaking about the efforts in their respective counties.
Families, public officials, law enforcement, health care providers, educators, and the public are encouraged to attend to learn about the heroin epidemic and the abuse of opioids and to discuss strategies to end the crisis. The event features a resource expo with representatives from more than 30 organizations providing information on their services.
CPDUs, CMEs and CEUs are being provided for education, medical, social work professionals, licensed professional counselors, and addiction prevention, treatment and recovery support professionals.
While pre-registration is not required, those planning to attend are encouraged to visit the website: www.HeroHelpsSWC.org to sign up.
