The 2020 Hero Helps Community Forum has been set for Friday, April 24 at the Edward Hospital Athletic and Event Center in Romeoville. This year’s event will highlight the work that has been done over the past ten years to bring hope and change to the opioid crisis in Illinois.

Every year, billions of dollars in federal funding go to hospitals, fire departments, schools, roads, and other resources based on census data.

Will County’s Aa1 rating confirmed by Moody’s Investor Service

Rating based upon county’s robust financial position and low debt burden

Will County officials announced today that Moody’s Investor Service has confirmed the county’s Aa1 credit rating. Moody’s reports that the credit position for Will County is very high quality and its Aa1 rating is slightly above the national median rating of Aa2.

Homeless Memorial Service to remember those who have died

The public is invited to attend a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 20 at the Joliet Public Library, 150 N. Ottawa Street in downtown Joliet, to honor homeless and formally homeless people who have died. In addition to honoring these individuals, county and city officials hope the event will raise awareness to the needs of the homeless community.

Will County to receive $850,000 grant to establish Dislocated Worker program

Funding will create employment and training services to assist residents affected by the opioid crisis

Officials from the Workforce Services Division of Will County and the Office of Substance Use Initiatives, under the Will County Executive Office, announced the county will receive more than $850,000 from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO).

On Tuesday, October 13, local officials from Will County, the City of Joliet, the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA), Metra, and Pace gathered to honor the late Will County Executive Larry Walsh. Walsh was instrumental in expanding mass transit services across Will County and was a champion improving mass transit options for the senior and disabled populations in the county.

Will County launches second round of COVID-19 (CARES Act) Small Business Assistance Grant Program

Small businesses impacted by COVID-19 may be eligible for up to $15,000 in grant assistance. Applications accepted Oct. 19 – Nov. 16, 2020.

Will County officials are offering another opportunity for small business owner impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic to apply for relief funding. Through the CARES Act passed by the U.S. Congress, Will County received more than $120 million of this federal funding, of which $24 million is earmarked for small businesses.
