Will County/IDOT reach agreement on ownership of Arsenal Road

Will County and the Illinois Department of Transportation on Wednesday reached an agreement about the jurisdiction of several roads in Will County, with the most significant transfer being Arsenal Road.

     “We negotiated with IDOT to take over Arsenal Road and in exchange the county will assume ownership of three other roadways within the county,” said Will County Executive Larry Walsh. “This is an important agreement regarding the safety of this region. This will benefit the county, our residents, the intermodals, and the many truckers who use this road daily.”

Businesses looking to hire should include the Workforce Services Division’s Resume Gallery in their search.  

The Gallery was designed in response to discussions with businesses and workers looking for a way to keep resumes of job seekers from becoming buried on large sites, said Scott Kettman, Business Services/Special Projects Supervisor for WSD.

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) today announced that roadwork will begin on both directions of U.S. 6, between McClintock Road and Interstate 55, in Will County, for a pavement resurfacing project. The project will begin; weather permitting, on Monday, Oct. 27, with a tentative completion date of late November.

JOLIET – The Mobile Workforce Center’s November schedule has been announced by the Workforce Services Division of Will County.
 
The mobile unit travels throughout Will County to help residents with resume development, cover letters and job applications. The workforce center contains 11 computer stations, internet access, and offers keyboarding lessons, as well as resume and job search assistance using online listings including jobs4people.org and Illinois workNet.

JOLIET – At today’s meeting of the Will County Board, the big issue for consideration was approval of the 2014-2015 Annual Aggregate Levy estimate which was part of the budget proposal made by Will County Executive Larry Walsh at the September 18th County Board meeting during his Annual Budget Address. Walsh also proposed a five-year capital and roads plan as part of his September presentation.

Will County launches second round of COVID-19 (CARES Act) Small Business Assistance Grant Program

Small businesses impacted by COVID-19 may be eligible for up to $15,000 in grant assistance. Applications accepted Oct. 19 – Nov. 16, 2020.

Will County officials are offering another opportunity for small business owner impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic to apply for relief funding. Through the CARES Act passed by the U.S. Congress, Will County received more than $120 million of this federal funding, of which $24 million is earmarked for small businesses.
