Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant invites families to attend a fun-filled Kids’ Fair on Monday, Feb. 19 from 9 a.m. to noon at Troy Middle School, 5800 W. Theodore St., Plainfield, IL. The free event features interactive and educational activities from local organizations, businesses, and government agencies.

The Will County Division of Transportation (WCDOT) will host two virtual open houses to gather feedback on the future of transportation priorities in Will County. The feedback will be incorporated in the ongoing “Our Way Forward 2050 Long Range Transportation Plan,” which will guide the next 25 years of county-wide infrastructure projects.

The Will County Resource Recovery and Energy Division offers year-round recycling for electronics, including string lights. There are also three Joliet drop-box locations for only string light recycling that will be up until January 31, 2024.

Will County EMA Reminds Residents of Safety Tips During Heat Advisory

The Will County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) is advising residents to take precautions during an ongoing extreme heat period for the region.

The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on August 26 and an Excessive Heat Watch from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. on August 27. The heat index is expected to reach as high as 116 degrees during this period. In these conditions, heat stroke, heat cramps or heat exhaustion are possible with prolonged exposure and/or physical activity.
