Partnership between County Executive and Circuit Court works to help residents avoid eviction
County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant and 12th Judicial Circuit Court Chief Judge Daniel Kennedy today announced that their joint eviction-diversion program has successfully left the pilot stage and will become a formal process to help mitigate COVID-19 related housing impacts.
As temperatures plummet and a prolonged deep freeze is anticipated, Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant reminds residents to utilize local warming centers if necessary. A complete list of warming shelters is listed on the home page of the Will County Emergency Management Agency’s website at www.willcountyema.org.
Project Acclaim, a Joliet-based civic pride organization, has inducted the Will County Executive’s Office and the Health Department, along with Joliet Fire Department, Amita St. Joseph Medical Center, and Joliet Township High School into its 2021 Hall of Pride for the coordinated effort to establish the Joliet West High School Vaccination Clinic. Representatives from Project Acclaim presented the award to County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant and Health Department Executive Director Sue Olenek at the January meeting of the Will County Board.
Following the success of the first Career Fair for Individuals with Disabilities, the Workforce Center of Will County is partnering with Frankfort Township to host a second job fair on Tuesday, January 25. The first career fair for individuals with disabilities, held in October of 2021, attracted more than 100 job seekers and 12 employers.
The new year brings newly updated building codes from the Will County Land Use Department. The codes are updated every six years to align with international building codes.

IDOT to Host Virtual Workshops to Promote Minority Business Participation in State Contracts

Will County Vaccination Clinic offering COVID-19 booster and pediatric vaccinations
The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) is following the Food and Drug Administration’s decision to open COVID-19 booster vaccinations to all and recommending anyone 18 years and older get a COVID-19 vaccine booster dose six months after receiving their second Moderna or Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, or two months after receiving the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
Final budget includes increased funding for public safety, Children’s Advocacy Center, mental health support, and transportation
County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant joined County Board leadership in highlighting accomplishments in the Fiscal Year 2022 Annual Budget, which invests in key priorities while maintaining balanced spending. The $793 million package, which was passed unanimously today by the County Board, increases funding for public safety agencies, the Children’s Advocacy Center, and the Will-Ride transportation program.
