Job SummaryThe Engineering Technician will perform field inspections for highway construction work and assists the Permit Manager with documentation requirements. Will be responsible for responding to permit related complaints, reviewing and processing various permit documentation and updating database accordingly and conducting speed studies and traffic counts. May assist in processing oversize/overweight truck permitting. Performs other duties, as assigned or required.
Minimum QualificationsHigh School diploma or equivalent. Completion of two (2) college level courses in engineering, drafting or surveying or a related field. Two (2) years of experience in sub-professional engineering, construction or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Must possess and maintain a good standing valid Illinois driver’s license. Must have knowledge of methods and standards of construction and land survey, construction materials. Engineering plans, records and drafting nomenclature and symbols. Traffic laws and requirements for placement of roadway signs and pavement markings. Applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, regulations, codes, and/or statues. Using computer hardware and software including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, email, survey software and hardware, etc. Knowledge in the use of CADD/GIS preferred.
