Job SummaryDUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS: Under general supervision, receives public calls for emergency services and broadcasts orders to patrol, fire and other units in vicinity to investigate or otherwise respond, and relays instructions or questions to and from remote units in a clear, concise and calm manner in public service to the citizens of Will County. Utilizes Global Positioning System (GPS), Geographical Information Systems (GIS), Computer Aided Design (CAD) and related software to verify location of caller and provide directional assistance to first responders.
Minimum QualificationsMust possess a high school diploma or equivalent, and one (1) year experience; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Strong working knowledge and skill in Microsoft Word and Excel. Adept at learning other pertinent computer software (e.g., CAD; GIS; GPS) necessary for position. The successful candidate will be expected to understand telecommunication technologies and how they interrelate to provide effective 9-1-1 communication services. Must type a minimum of forty-five (45) words per minute.
Salary RangeCollective Bargaining Wage Scale Equivalent F1 – F10 ($42,880 - $58,261) $20.61 per hour
