Anonym / Friday, October 1, 2021 / Categories: News, Press Releases, Home Page Will County Executive Reminds Residents of Rental Assistance Ahead of Eviction Moratorium Expiration COMEBACK Grant funding still available to renters and tenants in Will County Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant is reminding tenants and landlords of financial assistance available to residents ahead of the Oct. 3 expiration of the Illinois eviction moratorium. Will County COMEBACK Grant funding is available to tenants, landlords, and homeowners who are impacted by economic hardships related to the COVID-19 pandemic. “As the eviction moratorium expires, we want to ensure that our residents and landlords are aware of this much-needed relief,” said Bertino-Tarrant. “Our COMEBACK Grant funding can serve as a lifeline to keep tenants in their homes and ensure that landlords have relief from past due rent.” This financial assistance can be used for rent, mortgage, and utility payments. Funds are available to those earning under 80 percent of the Area Median Income and at least one month behind on rent or mortgage. Residents already approved for assistance by the Illinois Rental Payment Program (ILRPP) may not be eligible for additional assistance. Will County has partnered with four local community agencies to manage applications for the COMEBACK Grants. Each agency has received $250,000 of housing stabilization funds. Will County has also partnered with the Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA) to administer Illinois Rental Payment Program funding. While that application period has closed, landlords and tenants can check the status of their application at ILRPP.IHDA.org.
