Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant, the Will County Center for Economic Development (CED), and the State of Illinois Commission on Equity and Inclusion invites business owners to attend a free in-person workshop to learn about the Illinois Business Enterprise Program (BEP) and local resources. The workshop will take place on Thursday, September 7, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. at the Joliet Public Library, 150 N. Ottawa St., Joliet.

Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant delivered the official State of the County address at the August County Board meeting, spotlighting efforts by county government over the last year to modernize operations and provide improved service to residents.

Will County’s Animal Control Department has joined the Chicagoland Humane Coalition, a collaborative organization working to addressing pressing animal welfare issues in the region. Will County was invited to join the coalition due to its ongoing efforts to take a more proactive approach to animal services and provide resources to local pet owners.

The Workforce Services Division of Will County released its August 2023 schedule of events, workshops, job fairs, and Mobile Workforce Center locations.

Will County residents and small business owners are invited to learn about the benefits of solar energy and participate in a group buy program to reduce installation costs.

With an upcoming stretch of high temperatures expected in Illinois, the Will County Emergency Management Agency is advising residents of measures they can take during severe heat conditions to stay safe and healthy. These measures include being mindful of heat-related illnesses and being aware of the availability of local cooling centers. 

Will County officials attended a ribbon cutting today to dedicate the new Will County Coroner’s Facility in Joliet. The state-of-the-art, 11,460-square-foot facility consolidates the operations of the Will County Coroner’s Office into one location, providing modern, efficient, and expanded operations.

Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant, State Representative Dagmara “Dee” Avelar, Senator Meg Loughran Cappel, and State Representative Natalie Manley are partnering with United Way of Will County to host a “Diaper Depot Drive” to collect items for local families experiencing hardships. Several collection boxes have been placed throughout the county and donations are accepted until Friday, July 21.

Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant, Bolingbrook Mayor Mary Alexander-Basta, and the K9 Enrichment Initiative invite dog owners to a pop-up pet clinic from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 8 at the Bolingbrook Town Center. The appointment-only event, hosted in partnership with Petco Love, will provide free vaccinations, microchipping services, and a pet food pantry.

Will County Animal Control is urging residents to consider the impact of fireworks on pets ahead of the Independence Day weekend. Fireworks displays can result in pets becoming overwhelmed and stressed, resulting in them running away from home.
