Ms. Denise Winfrey is the Will County Executive. On June 8, 2020, she became the first woman and the first person of color to hold that position. Prior to becoming the Executive, she was Speaker of the Will County Board and the first woman to lead that group.
On June 20, 2020, Ms. Winfrey was sworn in as the Second Vice President of the National Association of Counties. The organization has automatic ascension, meaning that in 2022 she will become President of the body; the first woman of color in forty years.
Denise also is involved with civic and charitable organizations around the area including president of the Will Grundy Medical Clinic Board of Directors, Joliet City Center Partnership, the Center for Economic Development, and the Illinois State Association of Counties (ISACO).
Denise is a member of the Joliet Chapter of the National Hook-Up of Black Women. There she serves as Legislative Chair and is a member of the Ways and Means committee.
In her spare time, Denise loves reading, traveling, and entertaining friends and family.
