Fourteen veterans whose service spans World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars were honored at Sunny Hill Nursing Home of Will County on Thursday, Nov. 3.
The Friends of Sunny Hill Inc. is kicking off its campaign for a new bus by bringing back an old favorite.
Music can pick you up, bring back memories and get your feet tapping or get you dancing in your seat. In some cases it can help you forget pain.
Gertrude Hoover, a resident of Sunny Hill Nursing Home of Will County in Joliet, was feted by family and friends for her 100th birthday on March 26 at Sunny Hill.
They met in church, school, on a blind date and at work.
In all, 21 couples are represented at Sunny Hill Nursing Home of Will County, said Activity Director Danette Krieger. For two of the couples, both husband and wife live at the County-owned facility
Gratitude for the care that residents receive at Sunny Hill Nursing Home and lessons learned about how the brain operates will benefit those with Alzheimer’s disease for years to come.
That gratitude is from the family of the late Richard Churnovic and KSKJ, the organization of which he and other Sunny Hill residents were members, said Danette Krieger, Sunny Hill’s Activity Director. The late Richard Tezak, also known as "Mr. Sunny Hill," was also a member of the fraternal organization.
