JOB TITLE:
Building Maintenance Supervisor                                                         

DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

Under the direction of the Maintenance Director, supervises workers and coordinates activities of the Sunny Hill Nursing Home Building Maintenance Department.  Determines service, equipment and personnel needs.  Obtains needed building and maintenance supplies, equipment, and machinery through County purchasing procedures.  Oversees all contractual work for adherence to specifications and assists in preparation of plans and specifications.   Interprets policies to workers and enforces regulations of the Illinois Dept. of Public Health life-safety codes.  Maintains and monitors preventive maintenance systems and performs hands-on maintenance/repairs to all equipment and acts as inspection liaison.

Must have supervisory experience, preferably in a health-care setting; experience in or knowledge of boilers, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, electricity, plumbing, general maintenance, and health care life-safety codes.  Strong effective interpersonal and communication skills to provide stable leadership, empathy to residents, and liaison for surveyors required.

Attend outside community meetings and events including public speaking engagements and interviews. Works with Admissions Director, Activity Director and Administrator. Serves as a liaison to hospital social workers and discharge planners through daily visits. Visits physicians and senior housing groups for the purpose of networking. Prepare schedules and reports on all activities; develop marketing materials, analysis, surveys and evaluations. Provides support for the Admission Director.

Bachelor’s degree in health care related field preferred and a minimum of year experience in a long-term care or hospital environment required, marketing or communications background or any combination of education, training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Must have a car and valid Illinois driver’s license to meet with external contacts. Must be proficient at public speaking.
