The Veterans Assistance Commission is a separate County Governmental Agency that is operated by and for veterans. The Commission provides needed interim and/or emergency financial assistance paid exclusively to Honorably Discharged Military Veterans and their families, who reside in Will County, for basic living expenses.
Local veterans organizations are responsible for forming a VAC as is allowed under The Military Veterans Assistance Act, 330 ILCS 45.
The VACWC provides advocacy service to veterans and their families in applying to the proper local, state or Federal agencies to procure benefits.
The VACWC works closely with ALL Veterans Organizations, utility companies, landlords, local, state and Federal agencies to insure the rights and benefits to which each veteran is entitled has been granted.
The VACWC provides assistance with filing claims to the United States Department of Veterans Affairs.
To encourage the welfare of honorably discharged veterans and their families. To act as a central service office for all eligible veterans, handle all Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) claim work, and to dispense relief funds and supplies as needed to veterans and their family members.
